BACKGROUND

The Bachelor of Health Science in Emergency Medical Care and Rescue is an advanced healthcare Programme designed for students who want to become highly trained emergency medical professionals. This Programme prepares students to provide advanced emergency medical treatment, rescue operations and hospital & pre-hospital care during critical situations such as road accidents, medical emergencies, disasters, fires and trauma incidents

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have obtained a minimum of 35 points in their best six (6) subjects. Candidates must have achieved credits in English Language, Geography, Science, Biology and Mathematics together with credits in any two additional subjects.

Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications: EGCSE, IGCSE, GCE O’Level, Matric or AS Level.

Holders of a Diploma or Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Care (EMC) may be considered for admission into Level 3, subject to the verification and approval of their qualifications.

Course Structure

Emergency Medical Care practitioners are usually the first healthcare professionals to arrive at emergency scenes. They are responsible for stabilizing patients, providing life-saving treatment and ensuring patients are safely transported to healthcare facilities. The Programme combines medical sciences, rescue techniques, disaster management and clinical practice.

Students also undergo practical training in hospitals, ambulances, emergency departments and rescue operations where they gain real-world experience.
