This Programme trains students to manage disasters effectively through prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience building. Students gain expertise in identifying disaster risks and implementing strategies to minimize the impact of natural and human-made disasters.
Applicants must have obtained a minimum average of 35 points in their best six (6) subjects. Candidates must have credits in English Language, Geography, Agriculture, Biology and Mathematics as well as credits in any two additional subjects.
Accepted qualifications include EGCSE, IGCSE, GCE O’Level, Matric, or AS Level.
Holders of a Diploma or Associate Degree in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) may be considered for admission into Level 3, subject to verification of their qualifications.
The course structure includes disaster risk reduction principles, disaster preparedness and response, emergency planning, climate change and disaster risk management, disaster policy and governance, risk assessment and analysis, humanitarian assistance, crisis communication, disaster recovery and rehabilitation, community resilience building, geographic information systems in disaster management, and research-based fieldwork.
