Diploma in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management

Background

This Programme develops practical skills in disaster preparedness, response and mitigation. Students are trained to assist communities and organizations in reducing disaster risks and managing emergencies effectively.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed Form 5 with a minimum of 30 points in their best six (6) subjects and a minimum grade of D in English Language.

Candidates must have passed three (3) science subjects including Mathematics. The science subjects must be selected from Mathematics, Geography, Biology, Physical Science, Agriculture and Food & Nutrition.

Accepted qualifications include EGCSE, IGCSE, GCE O’Level, Matric, or AS Level.

Course Structure

The course structure includes disaster management fundamentals, emergency response planning, disaster risk assessment, humanitarian response coordination, disaster recovery strategies, community preparedness, crisis management, climate change adaptation and practical field training.

Graduates can work as disaster response assistants, emergency planning officers, humanitarian support workers, crisis response coordinators and disaster risk reduction officers.
