The Diploma in Public Health provides foundational knowledge in promoting health and preventing disease within communities. Students learn how to implement health programmes, educate communities and support public health initiatives.
Applicants must have successfully completed Form 5 with a minimum of 30 points in their best six (6) subjects. Candidates must have passed English Language with a minimum grade of D.
Accepted qualifications include EGCSE, IGCSE, GCE O’Level, Matric, or AS Level.
Applicants must also have obtained at least three (3) credits, symbol C or better in any of the following subjects: Mathematics, Biology, Physical Science, Agriculture, Geography and Food & Nutrition. To make up the required six (6) subjects, the remaining subjects may be selected from Literature in English, Design & Technology, Religious Education or any other approved Form 5 subjects.
The Programme includes studies in public health principles, community health, environmental health, disease prevention, health education, basic epidemiology, nutrition & health, health promotion strategies, public health practice and supervised field attachment.
Career Opportunities
Graduates can work as community health workers, public health assistants, health educators, environmental health assistants, Programme support officers and outreach coordinators.
