Job Title: Logistics \/Transport Officer<\/strong><\/p>

Department: Transport & logistics
Reports to: Registrar
Job purpose: To manage and coordinate the college\u2019s transport operations, ensure the safe and efficient transportation of staff & students, maintain college vehicles, and ensure compliance with relevant road traffic laws and institutional policies.<\/p>

Minimum Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>

  • A Diploma or Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Fleet Management, or a related field.<\/li>
  • A relevant certificate in fleet management or transport operations may be an added advantage.<\/li>
  • A valid driving licence appropriate to the types of vehicles operated by the college.<\/li>
  • A defensive driving certificate and first-aid training would be advantageous.<\/li>
  • Training in vehicle maintenance, occupational health and safety, or road safety is an<\/li>
  • added advantage.<\/li><\/ul>

    Note: The college may adjust the qualification requirements according to the size of its fleet and the level of responsibility attached to the position.<\/p>

    Work Experience<\/strong><\/p>

    • At least three years of relevant experience in transport administration, fleet management, logistics, or a related field.<\/p><\/li>

    • Experience coordinating drivers and scheduling vehicle movements.<\/p><\/li>

    • Experience maintaining vehicle records, fuel consumption records, and maintenance<\/p>

      schedules.<\/p><\/li>

    • Experience managing institutional or commercial vehicles is an added advantage.<\/li><\/ul>

          • Demonstrate competence in vehicle inspection and transport scheduling.<\/p><\/li>

          • Meet any applicable medical fitness or occupational safety requirements.<\/li><\/ul>

            \u00a0Core Responsibilities of the Position<\/strong><\/p>

            The Transport Officer will be expected to:<\/p>

            1. Coordinate transport services for students, lecturers, and other college staff.<\/p><\/li>

            2. Prepare vehicle schedules for lectures, field trips, examinations, sporting events, and<\/p>

              official assignments.<\/p><\/li>

            3. Supervise drivers and monitor their conduct, attendance, and performance.<\/p><\/li>

            4. Ensure that college vehicles are roadworthy, insured, licensed, and serviced on<\/p>

              schedule.<\/p><\/li>

            5. Monitor fuel usage, mileage, vehicle maintenance costs, and transport expenditure.<\/p><\/li>

            6. Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements, accidents, repairs, and fuel<\/p>

              purchases.<\/p><\/li>

            7. Ensure compliance with traffic laws, road safety standards, and college transport<\/p>

              policies.<\/p><\/li>

            8. Investigate and report vehicle accidents, breakdowns, and transport-related incidents.<\/p><\/li>

            9. Recommend vehicle repairs, replacement, or procurement when necessary.<\/p><\/li>

            10. Prepare regular transport performance and expenditure reports for management.<\/p><\/li><\/ol><\/div>
